MetaBaron - fair shout on the misuse of the term "skunk".

As for the article - Great articulation of a point that smokers have been girating about for ages and which a lack of 'Ph.D' has denied to them the chance of anyone listening. All good news for the social acceptance and the breakdown of archaic understanding! x

"Skunk" is only but one among thousands of hybrids with a wide range of psychoactive content, many have CBD. The term "skunk" is not used any more among serious smokers because Skunk is an old hybrid that everyone has got bored of.
Among the less informed "skunk" is used as a generic term to describe hydroponically grown sinsemilla (seedless) buds that have been cleaned of all leaf. When the female plants are not fertilised they increase their production of flowers & resin, resulting in larger, more potent crops. But there are now many many hybrids grown in this way, and many of them have significant amounts of CBD & CBN.

In my view it is futile to try to understand these issues by looking at chemicals and primitive science.

I find it more expansive and informative to consider the esoteric view that the lack of balance is due to the sinsemilla technique, i.e. most of the grass being smoked is unfertilised cannabis flowers, which produces an imbalance, as in: too much yin, to use the Taoist model.

This is why most serious long-term cannabis smokers will always prefer a good hashish made in the traditional way, which doesn't involve weeding out the male plants. It has a more balanced effect, and yes, it probably contains CBD but that's not my point. My point is we need to move towards a more intuitive understanding of the plants.
